Student Learning Objectives
Students who complete ME 364 should be able to:
- Create mathematical models of physical systems and derive their governing equations in order to analyze the vibration properties of the systems.
- Determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes of simple discrete systems.
- Create mass-spring-damper models of mechanical systems
- Derive the discrete governing equations of mechanical systems
- Perform a Fourier Series expansion on a repeatable signal
- Determine the response of single degree-of-freedom systems to initial conditions, harmonic excitations, impulse, and general forcing conditions.
- Use Laplace Transforms to solve linear, time invariant systems of equations.
- Determine the response of two degree-of-freedom systems to initial conditions, harmonic excitations, impulse, and general forcing conditions.
